The
current BA degree in Elementary Education is a collaborative program
with Arizona State University. Upon completion of the coursework, a
graduate will be qualified to teach in K-8 classrooms and fulfill the
requirements for Arizona ESL and SEI endorsements. Reciprocity exists
between New Mexico and Arizona so applicants from New Mexico are
encouraged to apply. Additional courses need to be taken for
bilingual endorsement in Arizona. Our program offers the degree
through approaches that promote Diné philosophy, culture,
history, language and literacy. The program aims to develop teachers
with the necessary values, knowledge, skills, and confidence so that
they may promote children's academic skills and cultural identities
in Navajo and English.
