Our Goals
    The grant goals are to promote faculty development for greater

    • capacity to enhance student learning

    • definition and implementation of curriculum designed to impact student learning, particularly in a Diné College setting.

    • understanding and use of teaching methods through diverse technological delivery systems.

 

Expectations for Faculty. Faculty may propose a number of relevant activities or projects. Digital cameras and software can be purchased through the grant, but computer purchases are not allowed.Here are 10 samples:

1 Apply for stipends for support of research and planning or for work on projects.

2 Apply for "release time" to incorporate developmental projects in the academic year workload.

3 Organize a team to collaborate on the project.

4 Arrange visits to other tribal colleges.

5 Plan, schedule, and organize a speaker series

6 Plan, schedule, and provide an academic community presentation series.

7 Form faculty working groups to discuss ways of addressing one or more of the goals indicated above.

8 Review "best practices" for teaching and learning of adult learners and/or tribal colleges.

9 Acquire books, videos, or computers software for instructional purposes.

10 Attend individual professional activities such as conference and training.

Allocation of Grant Funds. For Academic Year 07-08, approximately $30,000 has been set aside for direct faculty support. These funds will be disbursed through a process in which faculty submit proposals and a committee of peers approves funding. Award funding may range from $200 to $2000.

Reporting.

 Those faculty awarded funding will be expected to report outcomes of their project or activities and provide accountability (receipts if necessary) for expenditures

The reports from faculty as well as information regarding administration of the grant will be reported to the Bush foundation on a yearly basis. These reports will be written by the faculty responsible for this grant's compliance.
