Assessment of the CDTE
Elementary Education Baccalaureate Program

Overview
         Essential Documents
            Matrices Across the Assessments

Over the years, the Elementary Education Baccalaureate program has developed its own essential documents for program delivery. These documents include interview and application forms, a student handbook, field experience handbooks, course assessments, formative and summative assessments, student-authored portfolios, etc. Some are available on the web and others are available upon request.

In addition, as a professional degree we must communicate the integrity of our program to a variety of organizations. As a result, we are currently working on matrices across the assessing organizations.

CDTE Mission Assessment
           Are we fulfilling our mission?

To begin the process of understanding program assessment, the mission, goals, and vision need to be closely examined and critiqued for authentic assessment.  Over the years, several assessment instruments are used in the existing program and will be modified as we move to a baccalaureate degree under Diné College.

Arizona Professional Standards

How does our program address the Arizona Professional Standards that will lead our graduates towards succesful certification in the state of Arizona?

In Spring 2007, our program was reviewed by the Arizona Department of Education along with all education programs under ASU. We received the maximum number of years approval of 2 years. Our effort showing how syllabi and field experiences address professional standards is noted on all syllabi in the Elementary Education degree program. Artifacts and other information is available on the web with additional data available upon request.

Higher Learning Commission Accreditation

How does HLC assess our BA Elementary Education program?

How does HLC assess institutional readiness for BA programs?

In our efforts to support accreditation through HLC, CDTE has been working on two major efforts:

    • Academic Program Efforts

    • Administrative Program Efforts
      • Elementary Education program level
      • Institutional readiness level

INTASC Standards

How does our program address the national professional standards?

As we move closer to realizing our goal for a baccalaureate degree in elementary education, we will address INTASC standards.
