Author's Comments:

I used some parts of myself and of others around me. Observing what could have been and what was the outcome of those who believed in themselves and their dreams. I wanted to use a message - not letting go of something that means so much to a person. I feel this book is geared towards students in the middle school who are struggling to be themselves and not trying to fit in with groups just to be comfortable.

My plot is of a young boy who loves to daydream about himself becoming a rock star. Jesse gets in trouble at school and at home with his dream. Yet, he continues to dream. He enters a talent show. The other students' performances are nothing out of the ordinary. He is next and he goes up on stage and sings his song. The song and guitar playing was horrible. He lost, placing only 15th out of 17 performers. As he got older he continued playing his songs. At the end he is a rock star.
