Understanding No Child Left Behind: Navajo Perspectives    


These Head Start students from Lukachukai, Arizona, will graduate from high school in 2017. According to No Child Left Behind Act, these children should be reading independently in English by third grade.

In 2002 the Federal Government implemented the No Child Left Behind Act heralding widespread changes in public across America.

This multimedia project, commissioned by the Center for Diné Teacher Education (CDTE), is a first hand account chronicling the impact of No Child Left Behind Act in schools on the Navajo Nation.

The goal of the project is to promote dialogue and continue the ongoing conversation and to gain greater understanding .
