January 10, 2005 Quarterly Meeting University of New Mexico Albuquerque, New Mexico The following institutional members were represented: University of New Mexico, University of New Mexico Gallup Branch, Division of Dine' Education, Fort Lewis College, University of Northern Colorado. The participation of several members was hampered due to harsh weather conditions in the West. The participating members focused on planning for the upcoming Summer Institutes for high school juniors. The focus of the Institutes will be encouraging prospective teacher candidates from Navajo Nation high schools to enroll in a 9-day residential experience with content addressing future careers in high school teaching and specific content delivered by expert high school teachers on Mathematics and Science instruction. The details of marketing, planning, staffing, and implementing the Institutes were developed.
Eastern Institute Location: Navajo
Preparatory School, Farmington, New Mexico
Western Institute Location: TBA
(Flagstaff and Tsaile were identified as potential sites) Next Consortium Meeting: April 20 and 21, 2005 beginning at 1:00 pm on Wednesday and concluding at noon on Thursday. This meeting will be hosted by Prescott College, Prescott, Arizona, The Crossroads Center, Sheldon Street and Grove Avenue
