Navajo School Administrators Preparation Program (NSAPP) Grants

In July 2005, we were awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Education for the Navajo School Administrators Preparation Program (NSAPP):  July 01, 2005 through June 30, 2009.

In July 2007, we received funding for a second cohort. Selections were made in Fall 2007 and upon candidate admissions to the ASU Graduate School, courses began in Winter 2007. The  Admissions Criteria & Process used is available for review and will be utilized if a third cohort is funded. This second grant will complete June 30, 2011.

Summary of Programs Awarded
Both the first grant award in 2005 and our most recent award in July 2007 to Diné College support a program which will Diné prepare administrators for Navajo schools. It is the goal of NSAPP to prepare 15 new chool administrators in each cohort.  Each successful participant will earn a master degree in Educational Administration through our partnership with Arizona State University and an Arizona state principal's certificate. The program infuses Diné content. Courses are provided on or near the Tsaile Diné College campus each semester and culminate in the final year with an Action Research Project.
