Site visits (with interviews and observations) at Tuba City, Tsaile, and Shiprock to review with STEM faculty and staff:
1) feasibility, deliverability, and effectiveness of AA
2) STEM facilities and equipment used for specific courses and equipment shared departmental-wide
3) Recruitment (Marketing)
4) Advising (context and content)
5) Student supports that would be beneficial

Site visit with faculty and staff  Summer 2004 with a follow-up site visit in Fall.

Expected Deliverables
Report of findings organized as indicated in "Focus" identifying and reflecting upon faculty and staff perspectives. One report for each visit.

Toney Begay B.S.

Review of data collected by team with evaluation of the current STEM programs and Remedial Math. Review of STEM facilities (including equipment and classroom technology). Review of STEM recruitment (marketing) and advising system including transferrability issues, and review of student support systems in place for STEM learning (academic and non-academic).

Outreach Consultant identifying partnerships with agencies, businesses, and educational institutions for STEM. Identification of STEM-related careers as needed by Navajo Nation. Identification of feasibility of offering STEM-related certifications as needed to support employment on Navajo Nation.

A series of five short reports based on data provided by the team. In addition, a report on the three areas identified external to DC.

Program-level evaluation of data collection: meaningful and reliable assessment tools and measures.

Timeframe
Overview during Summer 2004 and review of implementation grant proposal's assessment cycle in Fall 2004.

Report including flowcharts for assessment and data collection procedures for planning grant as well as critique and support for assessment cycle for implementation grant.
